Credential Application Process

The AG Coaching credentialing process is designed to verify your education and coaching experience, assess demonstrated coaching competency, and confirm your understanding of professional coaching standards and ethics.

Credential Application

Submit your information and supporting documentation

The first step is to submit your AG Coaching Credential Application. The application provides the information needed to determine whether you meet the requirements for the credential level for which you are applying.

› Application Information
Provide your biography, coach education, mentor coaching, coaching experience hours, and other information required for your credential level.
› References
References complete an online reference form. Required references include a lead pastor or church leader, a recent coaching client, and a coaching colleague. Credentialed ministers may use a district leader where appropriate.
› Application Fee
The applicable credential application fee is paid online when the application is submitted.
› Performance Evaluation
Applicants who require a performance evaluation will submit the appropriate coaching recording and transcript as part of the credentialing process.

Verification Process

Your application information is reviewed and verified

Information submitted with your application is reviewed by the AG Coaching Professional Coaches and Standards team.

The team verifies education documentation, mentor coaching, coaching experience, references, and other information required for the credential level for which you are applying.

Please watch for follow-up communication. The Professional Coaches and Standards team may contact you if clarification or additional documentation is needed.

Performance Evaluation

Demonstrate your coaching competency

Every AG Coaching applicant without an ICF credential is required to submit a Performance Evaluation for review by an AG Coaching Assessor.

Assessors use the ICF Minimum Skill Requirements when evaluating applicants.

Recording Requirements
Levels 1–3 submit one coaching recording. Levels 4–5 submit two coaching recordings. Each recording must include a transcript in English.

Recordings must follow the ICF Performance Evaluation Guidelines . If translation assistance is needed, AG Coaching can provide recommendations for a translator.

Once a complete recording and transcript are submitted, an AG Coaching Assessor reviews the performance against the applicable minimum skill requirements. The review process typically takes approximately three weeks.

Applicants receive feedback identifying strengths and potential areas for improvement. If the minimum skill requirements are not met, one opportunity is provided to submit new recordings and transcripts. If requirements are not demonstrated on resubmission, the applicant will need to restart the credential application process at a later time.

Coach Knowledge Assessment

Demonstrate your understanding of coaching competencies and ethics

Every AG Coaching applicant without an ICF credential is required to complete the AG Coaching Coach Knowledge Assessment.

The assessment evaluates your understanding of ICF coaching competencies and ethics as they relate to coaching and your involvement with AG Coaching.

A score of 70% or higher is required to complete the assessment.

The number of questions is based on the credential level for which you are applying. Applicants who already hold an applicable ICF credential do not complete the AG Coaching Coach Knowledge Assessment.

Already Hold an ICF Credential?

ICF credential holders may bypass applicable portions of the AG Coaching assessment process. Use code ICF to receive a $100 discount on a new AG Coaching credential application.

Ready to Upgrade Your Credential?

If you currently hold an AG Coaching credential and have met the requirements for a higher credential level, complete the Credential Upgrade Application. The one-time, non-refundable credential upgrade fee is $150.
